You don’t understand. No one is saying Wootton isn’t giving a quality education.

What we are saying is that with grade inflation and cut throat competition and a huge student body that has a 4.0, it’s hard for a student to stand out. Many of these kids are not gettin into UMD even with stellar grades and great ECs.

A lot of students have a 4.0 uw but not 300. Where did you get this number? Or do you mean weighted?

This is 100% true. Go to non-W schools where your kid can shine.

This is the same situation that is happening at Churchill. That is why so many kids there are not getting into UMD despite excellent credentials.

They are all little clones. Nothing distinguishes them as a swathe of conformity and universities won't look twice at this bland cohort.

my kid has a 4.85. he is going places! he studied hard and deserves to be recognized. his friends with 4.0 have had an eaier time. they tease him how much he studies. (it is weighted of course) but still! and his sat are pretty high as well. worked for us!

Yeah. My daughter had a 4.4 something and wasn’t in the top 30% of her class. Grade inflation is insane.

I know DCUM will not agree, with anything past scores and grades large schools like Penn State, UMD, etc..for example do not care about extracurricular curricular.

It’s literally cut and paste, students who excel in math, take a million AP classes, play violin, piano, etc. Doesn’t it hurt to be part of a class like this? Won’t colleges just look at your impressive profile and say - oh geez another one? Wouldn’t it be better to go to a lower ranked high school and excel there so your profile is unique?

I don’t get it.
