You should really have a professional do this and save a digital copy that you can reprint whenever you would like. Any service that you use should be color calibrated to an international standard and printed on acid free archival paper with archival inks. Anything less is a loss and a disservice to your family.

Agree, I've had surprisingly good experiences with Walgreens photo services. Might vary from location to location though.

Shutterfly and CVS both mess up of the color on high quality photos, even those taken professionally.

The process would almost certainly involve creating a digital image and printing it.

And if not, you can use your phone to take a photo of the photo and it will be pretty good. You just have to play around with lighting and avoiding glare/reflections.
