I’ve stopped by my son’s daycare during meal and nap time and the kids are all sitting at tables and chairs nicely eating. Even after nap time I was shocked to peek in and see kids just sitting on their rolled up blankets waiting to be called for the bathroom. No one was running around. It sounds like that daycare has a management and routine problem.

How are teachers able to stop one kid who refuse to stay in her cot from running around disrupting other kids who are sleeping or trying to sleep? The ratio is 1:8. Seems like an impossible task. The teacher can try to teach the child but it can take weeks before the child learns what’s expected of her.

How do you propose they do nap time when several kids won’t stay in their cot and disrupting the kids who are willing to stay in their cot and are sleeping?

I don’t know if it’s standard, but your title is very misleading. They’re not being tied to chairs, which has a very different connotation than chairs with seatbelts.

Uh, no, that is not standard practice for anything except meal times, and even then most places don't do this for kids over 12-18 months.
I could imagine a special situation in which this was used for a specific child who might pose a danger to themselves or others during certain activities. But it should be used rarely.
Also, they're strapping a kid in a chair for nap time?? Run, this place sucks.

Is it standard practice at daycare for toddlers 2-3 year old to be strapped to a toddler chair with a seatbelt? The daycare I toured do this for circle time, meal time, and nap time or anytime they need to contain the child. They do this with children who do not stay seated. They said it teaches younger toddlers to stay seated.
