We have three large tumblers, plus a large pile in the far end of the garden. IDK exactly how they all work together bc our staff tends to them, but we have very, very little kitchen waste. zthe gardeners use the compost every year, plus add in some organic store bought, and we are self sufficient for a lot of veg all summer.

A friend’s husband built one for me. You could get started with a wooden fruit crate, it gets air and humidity and can drain excess water. Peels and scraps decompose into almost nothing, if you aren’t adding yard waste you could probably use a crate for the whole summer.

I want to get into collecting food scraps for composting but am slightly overwhelmed at how to start. Please recommend your favorite food scrap bin and outdoor composter!
