I've heard of the name Alix but spelled like that I would assume it was Alexei spelled wrong.

Also never seen it with an E at the end, but the people I know pronounce it Ah-LEES. Emphasis on the second syllable, X pronounced more like an S.

It should be Alix (no e) and pronounced Ah-leeks. It's a very old traditional French name (one of Eleanor of Aquitaine's daughters by the king of France was Alix). It's sometimes short for Alexandra (like the last tsarina of Russia was Alexandra/Alix for nn).
