Not to hijack the thread but how did people get from the airport to their hotels? I fly to CDMX for the first time next week and will be staying in Roma Norte. I'm confused how to get to the hotel because everything I'm reading online is to take an official taxi. How will I know the difference? Is there a. Taxi stand at the airport?

The Mexico City metro is segregated. Literally. Women and children get to use the first two cars. Entrance to these cars is enforced by police. Men in the other cars.
If you happen to avoid being harassed by men on the CDMX metro, which would probably be super rare in the first place, the metro is fine. It's super cheap, like US$0.25, runs frequently and covers most of the city.
Just avoid rush hour, of course. Generally no one will bother or harass you at all. No one will pay attention to you.
There aren't always women's cars, but when there are they're in the front of the train.

That's rather odd because the CDMX metro was designed to work for the illiterate. All the stops have images to go with their names.

I was just in Mexico City a few weeks ago and felt very safe using the metro there. Of note, we only used it to travel from Condesa and Roma Norte to the area around Centro Historico, so we were in pretty touristy/safe areas, which may have made a difference.

Did you use the metro when you were in Mexico City? I was warned it wasn’t safe but am not sure that’s not just about different comfort levels.
