Kids not watching professional high quality soccer have lower soccer IQ than those who do.
All coaches will say, it's much easier teaching concepts to kids who watch the game.

The key to improve IQ through watching is to focus on top players playing your position with and without the ball.
Also, listening to the live game analysts especially during replays. They frequently mention why, where, when, options, decisions

My DS won't watch MLS, but he does like watching EPL, Champions League, CONCACAF, UEFA European Championship and World Cup.

Yes my 15 yo DS wakes up at 7:30 on the weekend sometimes to watch European soccer. He is a travel and school player but not on a top team. He is pretty good but not a super motivated type (will skip practice, isn't spending hours training on his own, will go for a run sometimes, etc...).

DD watches soccer all the time. we go to united and spirit games on the regular. She follows premier league, WSL, La liga and a couple others.

It helps them understand the game. Our coaches encourage it.

Yes absolutely damaging to players! It helps the boys understand when sports become too much, when the physical and mental demands outstrip the many millions they get paid, how players win not through their physicality but their mentality, coaches mentality is key and more!!!

DD watches every night. Arsenal or Man City if possible. Otherwise women’s. Collegiate is last option.

lol. My kids spent most Sat/Sun watching EPL on Peacock and when streamed on US stations. We have subscription for that. When they are not at home, they stream on apps. They watch together on the field with their teammates. We go to EPL games. They follow their favorite players in social media, and watch all the Champions, FA, and endless extra "cups" that I personally think are damaging to players but on throughout the season.

Speaking of, I'm looking forward to Dortmund winning this weekend.

We watch zero MLS.

He has no interest in MLS so avoided the Apple fees! (for now)

Same! We will try to catch an LAFC game (kids love Lloris) or Inter Miami on tv but truly they have no interest and it’s on too late for them to watch the whole thing. Peacock has great programming too so we use it a little more now!!

Yes! It’s mainly because I have it on. We watch the Prem from August through May and sprinkle in some Champions when it heats up and hits Telemundo or NBC in late winter and spring. EPL games start at 730 on weekends or hit at 3 pm weekdays so the timing is ideal for US elementary kids to watch European games!! They love making teams in FIFA 24 or whatever it’s called now with the players and they love seeing changes to lineups like Onana moving to ManU or Kepa to Spain and so on. They know all the players and love the game. They will not sit for the full 90 but bounce back and forth. They also love watching basketball and football on and off, we just happen to watch EPL and Champions. They also look up YouTube highlights if any big games so El Clásico or World Cup qualifiers. It’s SO MUCH fun and I think it makes them better players and increases their game IQ!!!

They watch parts of games but not entire games. They also play FIFA or whatever it’s called now and enjoy building teams of their favorite pro players.

Sometimes big events like world cup and champions league. What’s even more helpful is live games to see what players do without the ball (not just stand and wait for ball to come), and how they communicate constantly. College games are small enough to hear everything.
