The weighted GPA goes down because the MS classes dilute the power of AP classes. So instead of the bump from AP classes being divided by 24 (6*4 years in HS) they’re divided by 29. If it raises the GPA I’d do it; what’s the disadvantage?

It doesn’t matter op, no college will care about them if they remain on transcript,

There is no reason to have them on the transcript.

Now in HS, nearing end of junior year and can drop these from transcript. Is still a straight A student and is finishing up junior year with a total of 6 APs so far.
With MS grades gpa is 4.22
Without those, GPA is 4.27
Our district does not weigh honors (all core academics prior to APs have been honors), only AP/DE.

Will be taking a rigorous senior course load with 6 AP/DE classes. She’s interested in applying to T20 schools.

Worth it for the small bump to drop those MS grades?

The grades are currently on the HS transcript and part of the gpa calculation. The HS is offering to drop them by the end of this school year. I’m not being ridiculous, it wasn’t my idea, the school is offering and some are considering if it would be beneficial in helping my daughter meet her goals.

Yes, she is working on the scores too. She works hard for her good grades.

All this tells me is that grade inflation is alive and well. Focus on getting scores to match these excellent grades.

What's the downside of dropping them? No college cares about middle school grades.

Who cares! What a ridiculous question! Parents have indeed gone nuts.

No one cares about middle school grades. Keep them, drop them, it doesn't matter. You are overthinking!

Also she doesn’t these classes for any requirements. She’s continued to take all 5 core academics all 4 years so it doesn’t impact those needed classes.
