Go to the website and read the about section. It explains the purpose of the league. It clearly states it’s for entry level travel teams and reduces travel. Juventus (we played there for a time) and Achilles have some less competitive teams which is why those teams may have played the tournament. In particular, Juventus even has some teams that play MSI classic. I don’t see them listed in league play but I’m only seeing spring not fall. I can see why the league would be attractive for an EDP 4 or below team but you mentioned your u14 team is highly competitive so this is a strange choice. Since you mentioned many players left for competitive environments, perhaps the club is worried that the remaining players won’t be strong. This happened to DS’s team around that age. DS was one of the only starters to remain. The level of the team really dropped off and they moved to a lower level EDP and even there they struggled. He ended up leaving.

gah not what I wanted to hear. This was billed to us as a huge developmental leap over playing the same teams in EDP all the time. Why do Achilles and Juventus do it? Extra practice?

Yes, they are.

It’s a developmental league and tournament.

It is designed for EDP level 2-3 at the best and mostly for those below that.

I’m curious as well. Our team has left EDP to play in MDSL. The kids who left our team left to play NAL, ECNL, MLS NEXT. We knew we would not be playing in those leagues but thought we would stay EDP or maybe MSI travel.
Thoughts on this team? It’s for a highly competitive U14 team. My son loves his team and coach just not sure about the league. Not a bad thing, I just never heard of it.

It's very... developmental

I believe it's new and curious what it was like. Had some recognizable DMV names like Juventus, UES, DC Way, etc and then some teams that travelled from weirdly far away (Long Island???).
