As a middle aged European (married) woman, the only men who have ever asked me out recently were foreigners, mostly European, Middle Eastern and Latino. They just asked and weren't paralyzed by Doing The Right Thing, or being rejected, or finding out I was in fact married. No hard feelings. One of them just continued talking to me for an hour afterward. So easy and relaxed.

American men, born and bred in the US, seem to be very afraid of offending. It must make it so much harder to find people!

Friendly, easy going, doesn't behave in a haughty manner.

Confidence combined with happiness.

Go to one of the dog-friendly meet and greet bars, like the one at Pike & Rose. Make an effort to look nice but like yourself.

I think you have to look like you put some effort into how you look. A good friend of ours is very back to nature. He met someone who is even more back to nature than he is. What was interesting is that when they were dating she would actually put on mascara and wear "nice" back to nature clothes and generally sandals.

All to say that you need to dress up in a way that speaks to whatever type of person you would want to attract.

Oh BTW I'm petite and told I'm cute or pretty all the time by random people.
