OP here, thank you all! This is a DD driven request. We enjoy sports but honestly I’m not going to drive myself crazy to have a star athlete. She’s very tall and will likely be around 6 feet when all is said and done. She’s been hounding me on this one thing so I’d just like to find the easiest, safest spot to try. Looks like there are many good options!

Elevate Elite has young girl teams. Potomac Valley Thunder may also have a 2nd grade team - I don’t recall.

I would also check out Arlington Hurricanes, although their em teams are not as good from our experience.

Basketball really kicks off around 5th grade, but some girls get into it early.
For example, the Fairfax Stars is the top club in our area, but their youngest team starts at 4th grade. If your DD is good enough, the Stars occasionally let young players play up. Email the 4th grade coach and have your DD attend a practice to see if she is good enough. You’ll know pretty quick if she can play at that level.

Op- I would advise playing basketball for two seasons, but in 2nd grade I would mandate a different Rec level sport also.
St James, Evolution, Stars and Hurricanes have good programs. Also look at Wootten Camps.

i9 usually has summer programs.

What about for a kid in Vienna? Looking for a league for summer

St James has options for young kids that are year round.
Hurricanes offers a summer league for the younger ES grades
Lots of camps have summer offerings.

Hi, DD loved her winter basketball and is asking to play over school year for 24-25. We are in nova so anywhere from Arlington to falls church to ffx/Mclean is fine.

Does anyone have a program they’d recommend? She’ll be rising 2nd grader. I’d prefer just girls if that’s an option.
