One of my kids was in the marching band in high school. Since there are only a handful of football games, I attended, but left after the halftime performance. Watching football is not my thing.

DD did three seasons of track in 9th grade. We went when we could, and frequently picked her up from away meets even if we couldn’t go to the meets themselves.

My kids are grown but I went to every game they ever had, little league, soccer, softball, babe ruth baseball, rec basketball, HS football. I don't recall ever missing a game but if I did I guarantee my H or my mom was there because they went to most games too, well not always my mom. She had seven grandchildren, that would have been a bit much.

I went because I love most sports, I love my kids, and I loved watching them and their teams play. Neither of my kids ever said they didn't want a parent to come, that would have been too strange to even contemplate. I played some adult sports and they came to a whole lot of my games too.

My dd did varsity cheer freshman year only for football. My husband went to home games and he wasn’t fooling me. He enjoyed watching the football games. I went to some home games.

I think cheer parents attend every home game. My 9th grader played basketball and we did not attend games. Mostly they were after school.

I can’t imagine attending many of the latter.

I try to attend all home games. But sometimes work travel impedes. As a parent of a Senior - the years go by so fast - soak up as much as you can.

We did attend all and we wanted to. Also I volunteered for every home event - even the events where our kids were only spectating. I loved getting to know all of the kids and we became the parents who dropped kids at home after events when there were transportation snafus. Our kids kind of expected this of us and so we were/are all happy. And it makes it easy to parent when we know everyone and are involved.

My freshman daughter did JV cheer. DH and/or I went to all home games. I thought they were fun. I liked that the JV games were earlier, and it was nice to meet other cheer parents, though it’s not like I met all parents- I’m sure a handful didn’t go to games.
My dd always wanted us to go to away games so we could drive her home vs she rides the bus back to the school. She was fried by the end of away games and just wanted to get home. So DH frequently went to the away games. He kind of liked watching the games.
OP, just go with what your daughter prefers.
My older DS did HS sports and had friends who truly seemed indifferent to their parents going to games.

My son plays soccer. I only attended one away game because he needed a ride. As for home games, I think I went to maybe half. He actually prefers we not come.

Rising freshman DD has made our local hs JV cheer team. DH feels parents do not attend every game. Me on the other hand, am under the belief that it requires family time commitment so we should be at all of the away and home games. DH believes it’s not the case and if at most, attend some of the home games. Now, I wonder if I’m unrealistically thinking about this.

Did you attend all of your child’s games? Both home and away?
