My DC played in the Fairfax Stars summer league for the past 3 years with a local travel team but last year the number of games were cut so this year it didn't seem worth spending $$ to join a team except for weekly practices. Also, the season is now really short--6 games plus playoffs mid-June thru mid-July--so if you have vacation or camp plans, you can easily miss several games.

We are putting DC in more basketball camps instead. Most area high schools in DMV host week-long camps that are fun to attend with friends. Private schools like Gonzaga, St Johns, PVI, host more advanced camps for a month or more.

This is probably the best option.

A few county teams may be playing in FFX Stars, Loudoun Summer league(s) in July, but tryouts may be over. May be worth a look.

Last resort, you may have to play for a summer rec league.

Middle school DD is interested in playing for an AAU team this summer. Are any having tryouts or accepting new players? We are in VA but flexible on travel. She is looking for a competitive team.
