Some 3rd party websites alldge the Columbia is somehow D1 in track and offers scholarships. I wouldn't rely on them

To be fair, the reporter could have gotten it wrong. Like, she could have said, "They're going to Columbia and will be on the track team" and it could have made it into the story as "They got scholarships to be on the track team at Columbia."
Or she could be lying or exaggerating.
