And it's a process. This is an indication of where they are in the process of hiring. When the board arrives at the next stage, probably identifying finalists, we'll hear more.


We will never hear more or real details because MCPS does not share the candidates with the stakeholders. They use the excuse that it would narrow the choices because candidates don’t want their current districts to know of their interest. However, this creates a completely secret process with no input from the people this hire will directly affect. Many other districts invite stakeholders to meet the candidates to collect their input. Unfortunately, the final decision on superintendent will be made solely by this lame BOE.

Four areas of priority for the new superintendent’s work were also identified:

Student Academic Achievement and Equality of Access to Programs and Resources

Safety and Security

Well-being of Staff and Students


Recruitment and Retention
