PAC has no rec league so tryouts are exclusively either existing players and maybe a few kids looking for a change or new to the area. As you age up, the # of kids leaving exceeds the # of kids coming and the teams fall apart.

It's not unique to PAC. Smaller clubs that only field one team per age group fall about for high school aged players because too many quit at once. They end up condensing multiple age groups into a few teams

Is some clever way that small clubs could position themselves to mitigate this issue? Could they potentially complete on price? Suppose that a small club were to eliminate tournaments from their schedule, and simply play local games, aiming to cut costs and drop their annual club fees to around $1500. Could this approach tap into a niche in the market and make teams of small clubs more stable across time?

Without Rec it's tough to create a basis for the travel program especially at U9. Hard to form teams and relies on players coming from other places for various reasons. The club should have done more to capture local players at younger ages even without a rec program.

Club has some great coaches. The 2007 girls team stayed together for a long time and was a strong team. Some strong teams on boys side, too.

I have had kids at PAC and at two neighboring clubs and for development I liked PAC the best.

Small organization. Coaches know your kids and can help them develop.

There are former PAC kids playing in the 'better leagues' now that they are older.

This is not a 'keeping up with the Jones' type club, so if you are okay with not playing under one of the bigger name clubs for a bit you should at least consider.

Our time with PAC was fun and had great families. Our kid moved on eventually but was well prepared from their time at PAC

Question?
What are the reason parents should consider these teams for their players? What are the pros?

I'm the soccer Dad who posted a few minutes ago, checking to see if it was OK to post some tryout information for my daughter's soccer club. Most respondents felt it was OK, so I'll go ahead and post the info.

My daughter plays for 2011 PAC. The team has shrunk due to injuries and some turnover, and is seeking new players. The 2010 team is also seeking players, and, in addition, PAC is hoping to launch a 2012 girls team. So there are plenty of opportunities for girls born between 2010 and 2012.

For tryouts, prospective players can simply join the team for a practice. There is no need to contact the coach or team manager in advance. Practices are on Monday and Wednesday from 5 to 6:30 pm at Shrevewood Elementary School in Falls Church. Typically, a prospective player will attend several practices before a determination is made whether they are a good fit for the team.
