Have you had your hearing checked and tried hearing aids (some have tinnitus maskers). It might take a lot of trial and error, but you might be able to find something that really helps.

One thing to keep in mind is that doing things often helps to distract you from the tinnitus. So working less, without filling your time in other ways, may lead you to have more time to think about the tinnitus and how much it bothers you.

Yes.

Then yes, adjust your lifestyle or step back if you can. I don’t know how bad yours is but does background noise help at all?

I have had tinnitus for 15 years, and it is 24/7 (not something that comes and goes). No clue what caused it. I think the best you can do is just to try not to think about it. I can't say that you'll ever get used to it, but you do become better at not letting it bother you.

It’s very reasonable to step back, this is A debilitating condition. Not to get to gruesome, but you can look into the cases of people who had to post Covid and the hardship.

Is it reasonable to scale back a stressful job which involves lots of client facing projects and public speaking because of tinnitus? Did anyone have to make any major career changes because of it? Could you share your experience, if yes?

I used to be overperformer. Now, with this condition, things are different.
