Subject: VA Revolution Academy
Teams are formed by age. Because it's a smaller program, they may have teams with an age difference of +/- 2 years, especially with the older kids. I belive they max out at 13 or 14 for the academy. The academy is self contained and they do not compete with other clubs. I think that is a plus for them because it puts more focus on development than trying to please parents with winning games.
The coaches are good, some volunteers but many are players from the pro team. In theory, the program should feed travel but the kids still have to tryout and compete against everyone else. I don't think there is any preference given to academy players. I'm not aware of any goalie specific training outside of the summer camp or the travel program.

I posted a similar question a couple weeks ago. My DC (2014) didn't make the travel team, which we're okay with. Parents encouraged me to watch their practices and I did. I spoke to a couple parents who were complimentary of their experience. I can't answer your questions, but I look forward to others' answers
I should add that we are signed up for a couple of their summer camps, including the goalkeeper one.

My kids (2012 and 2013) are currently in Loudoun Rec Challenge, but we’re considering moving them to Revolution Academy next year. We haven’t had the best experience with coaching and expanding soccer fundamentals with the current teams we’re on. I have a few questions if anyone can answer them:
