Mechanism of protection just doesn't make sense to me. More worried about performance impact and syncope with this, than the generic risk of concussion in lacrosse.

Wearing this is like taking a few extra vitamin C's. It's FDA cleared and likely have no negative effects.

I have several FDA and NIH friends telling me this is just a gimmick.

Two studies submitted to the FDA were based on male football players who wear a full helmet. The only study with females were two soccer teams. FDA cleared is not the same as approved, the process is less rigorous. As a parent with a daughter who has had two concussions, I wanted this product to offer the protection it claims. But it just doesn’t. And the women’s helmet isn’t the answer either.

I wouldn't say zero. They applied for FDA approval and submitted several studies that the FDA concluded said "appear to indicate protection of the brain associated with device use" and the FDA found "no significant adverse events were associated with device use."

Not saying it works but if it gives you confidence and could protect the brain with no downside (other than the $100) then you make the call.

We have a couple of girls on our hs team with histories of concussions so they wear them. Can't speak to their effectiveness. The two players feel more confident when wearing them.

I wouldn't say they are popular but a couple of boys on our HS team wear them - mostly kids who have had prior concussions.

My DD (high school) just had her first concussion and asked me to order one for her. So, I don't have any data to share other than I'm getting her one.

They don't prevent concussions but instead protect the brain, per everything I've read about them. I'll take what I can get. Plus, if my DD feels more comfortable on the field wearing one, then I will get it for her. I think there will be a bit of a mental hurdle when she gets back out on the field. She knows at least two other girls who wear one.

My health care FSA covered the cost, FYI.
