Omg, OP, google this. These answers are way off. Also, review the contract to see if a gratuity has already been added. A service fee usually does not go to staff. You probably should tip the bartender a percentage of the bar tab, but servers can be tipped as little as $30. Given that it’s a buffet, $50 would be generous.

$5700 divided by 6 is $900. But much of that is rental of linens and even paying the staff, right? So I’d tip less than 20% of the $900, which is $190 for each. Maybe $150 to each? But that is minimum. I’d probably tip $200 each.

I have absolutely no idea how they are paid. I pay the caterer. I despise tips and I think $114 per person for a taco bar should be plenty of money but I don’t know what the right answer is.

Are they paid an hourly wage like a waiter? Why tip at all? It is up to the caterer to pay them a fair wage. Tip for exemplary service.

Having a catered event following a recital on Sunday afternoon from 3:30-5:30 at a local mansion. Expect 50 guests. Total catering amount which includes table/chair rentals, linens, staff, and food, is $5,700.

Non-alcoholic bar with food buffet-style (taco bar, fruit display, cupcakes). No passed hors d'oeuvres.

They bid 6 staff. How should they be tipped? How much each?
