No it doesn’t. No box needed. You may need to expand the options. It doesn’t always show up as one of the first ones but it’s still there.

Unfortunately it is not there. Burned once on not expanding the options - thought I picked UPS and had selected the seventh circle of hell, Staples, so had to go home and reprint the label. No QR code today even though there was one just last week!

OP here. If I could go to a brick and mortar retailer and purchase these items, I would do so. But they don't exist. I tried to buy directly from the vendor online, but I can't. Amazon has hoovered up so many vendors out there that I had little choice but to purchase these items through Amazon. I kept some of the items and are returning the others as they do not work as intended.

I don't like this but that's where retail is these days. How do you suggest I approach this (N.B., I live in a city)?

I occasionally pick the wrong return option--you can go back into your orders, cancel the return, and re-select a better return option, if that helps.

This. It’s still easy here. We just get the label and take it to Whole Foods. We do always keep the box until we decide we aren’t returning it. We don’t return constantly maybe 3-4 times a year tops.

I’m sure Amazon returns are insanely abused. We have a college aged daughter who buy something, ship it to an on campus locker and not bother to pick it up within 3 days so it gets automatically returned. She’ll end up ordering it again. No cost penalty to her but a lot of labor wasted. Drives me nuts.

Return options are based on the seller. If item is sold by Amazon, it is usually pretty simple and you can return with just a QR code at a UPS store (for example). But if you bought from a different seller through Amazon, you may need to print a label and box it according to instructions.

Only one, current shipping label on a box is standard requirement and makes total sense. Nobody needs to waste time trying to decipher which label to scan.

I would just take the labels and go to the UPS store and see if they will help you sort it out. Annoying but they will have a better sense of what the deal is with the labels.

When I return items to Amazon, I go to Whole Foods and use the drop box there. I love it because I don't have to bring anything but the item -- I scan my return QR code on my phone and then they provide me with a bag for the item and a label for it. It's very easy.

I have also gone to the Amazon center closest to me (still not that close, but the one in Hyattsville is not a terrible drive and can be combined with another errand) in situations where I really had no idea how to accomplish the return. Like once I had an unopened Amazon electronic device I'd been gifted but didn't want, and I found a program that would let me return it for cash, but had no idea how to do that so I just took it to the Amazon center. Worth it to get like $60 from Amazon for a gift I didn't even buy.

I will just chime in to say I have also noticed Amazon making it harder and more confusing to return things. Every year or so things shift to slightly more annoying.

I used to be able to bag and drop in Amazon lockers myself. Fine. Then that option disppeared.

I used the able to take my items to the UPS store, no box/label needed. Now that option costs me $1 and *sometimes* I need to provide my own box, sometimes I don't.

Now the free option is Staples which is like the 7th circle of hell. Even if the store is empty, and only one person in front of me, it seems the Staples employees are so annoyed about returns that they make sure it takes no less than 15-30 minutes any time I go in there.

I used to love Amazon because it was so easy to return things that didn't work out. The one upside is now I am more hesitant to order things from there, even if it's cheaper, because the returns are such a pain in the butt.

I live in a city so returning bulky Amazon packages can be a pain. I ticked "label and box needed," assuming I would get a QR code and could just carry the three items in an IKEA tote bag and deposit them at my local UPS. Now I've gotten links to three separate labels with instructions to make sure that all other shipping labels are removed from my boxes. What does this mean? And the items came in one box!

Why can't there be consistency from one return to another?

Grateful for any insights others have to share here.

For the record, I tried to purchase these items directly from the vendor, but the only option was through Amazon
