Yes. Too many injuries (he is 15). He still likes soccer and is considering doing rec, but I agree with him that over the past 3 years, the number of injuries he has incurred playing travel soccer is insane.

It's not soccer's fault why he had too many injuries. Or all players would have too many injuries.

It's not anyone's fault, it's bad luck. But he doesn't want to do it any more due to the injuries, which include concussions, and that's perfectly fine. Do you take issue with that? Is your view that he's compelled to continue to play an expensive travel sport where he is repeatedly getting hurt?

My son is on the fence - not sure he wants to try to play in college and the commitment for an ECNL team is a lot

My oldest son quit travel soccer after 6th grade - so I think U12 was the last year he played travel soccer. He switched to house/rec and playing for his school, which has been a good experience for him.

My middle boy, by contrast, is at the same age now and still just as in love with soccer as he has always been.

Every kid is different and I've heard from many different people that U12/U13 is when some kids start to step back a bit from the higher level game.

Toll both collector? They still have them?

Yes they still have toll booth collectors and Valor coaches. Both are outdated and silly but still exist.

My 8th grader is. He's on a lower team, and realized he'd rather just play three seasons of different middle school sports than dedicate 3-4 days a week year round to soccer

My kid isn't, but some of his teammates on his U16 are quitting. Some are focusing on other sports, some are worried that junior year of HS will be too busy with academics, some aren't moving up to the higher team so they're just done.
