The decision to operate school during a primary election is made not by the teachers and not by the union but by the district. 14 Maryland districts are closed today.

It's MD state law that public schools are closed for primary and general election days.

Frankly, the only reason I am not working tonight is because I don't have to teach tomorrow and can do lesson plans then, when we are "off."
