If you have the savings, offer to pay 6 months in advance. That’s how a friend did it. Also if moving to the lower cost area you could probably just buy a small place for cheap and skip rent

I technically have the consultant8ng job which is around $1K a month for 8 hours of work.

Yes, I am living in hotels, taking a 7 day cruise while my stuff was shipped to a lower cost of living city where my family is, my hometown in the Midwest.

Omg enjoy the cruise!
The Midwest SUCKS, so have fun while you can. I did what you did and regret it major big time.
-stuck in Iowa, miserable

My family has lived here for 5 generations. I won't be miserable.

I have bought and sold my own home.

I have just never rented before without full time employment. I have rented with a job offer letter.

Airbnb for a month or two or find a rental you like and offer to pay 6 months up front.

I would try to rent a room in a roommate situation. I did this when I was in grad school. I had no income back then.

Do you have savings?

I had to move when I was out of work. I lied on my application, and moved into a really shitty run down apartment building where the guy liked me because I was white and a phone number and email address of my employer (who was actually just my friend Jen living across the country who in no way ever employed me). He called me two days after I put in my application to say he checked my references and verified employment and I could move in.

You show them your $100k investment account.
At least you credit score is good, right?
The last landlord can write a recommendation.
You could get a job tomorrow if you really wanted. Every restaurant, retail store, and even Uber is hiring.

I'm confused. You haven't given enough details. Can you afford to pay rent? How much do you have in savings?

I would see if you qualify for any government programs.

Like https://erap.dhs.dc.gov/ERAPIntroduction

Can you get temp jobs to bring in more income? Possibly a retail job in the evenings and on weekends? Deliver groceries for WF in non-work hours?

Do you have insurance? Starbucks provides it to PT workers. You could see if they have shifts that would flex around a temp gig.

Good luck! Try not to overextend, age discrimination is real and a permanent job may take a while.

You said you moved. Where did you move to?

Maybe try to get a short term lease on Airbnb or something?

Ask a friend/family member to co-sign for you. Or offer to pay six months up front.

I currently work 8 hours a month and make about $1K. As recent as March, I was cl3aring around $3500 every two weeks from a job that was supposed to be a 1-year contract, possibly extended to 4.

How do I rent an apartment now? I don't have a co signer. I am a woman in my early 50s.

I have to live somewhere.

My lease was up in April. I moved.

I can't stay with anyone.

I am certain I will find a job.
