If just to rule it out, I would get it done. There are effective treatments available depending on the specific deficit. Fortunately for my son, his area of disorder was treatable. I worked with him over one summer, and the change was remarkable. We had his initial testing done at Gaullaudet, which was covered by insurance. While the test seemed very thorough it took the longest time and many calls before we received the results. We had our follow-up testing done by Dr. Jay Lucker and paid out-of-pocket:
