I go to London for work so I've been stopped and asked for directions while wearing a suit. I've also been touristy. Never felt it impacted experience. I absolutely love walking around London and would prioritize comfortable footwear if you can.

Why does it matter? You'll never see any of those people again. Wouldn't it only be important to be comfortable?

With streetwear they don't look bad. I wouldn't wear them with a dress though...

I personally like OC's in black with white soles because they don't look as clunky as Hokas or other brands, but they will give you away as an American (even though it is a Swiss brand). Same with Stan Smith's.

Yeah, just focus on something comfortable.

Any trainer is fine. Literally no one will be looking at you and everyone will know you are a tourist the moment you speak.

Why would OP want to mimic what people in London wear? How strange.

For all I know, half the people I saw may have been tourists!

I got this advice from this board back in March and happily wore my Hokas through London and Paris. Excellent choice for me.

She didn't say anything about not wanting to look like a tourist (which is the dumbest impulse anyway -- you ARE a tourist, who cares if you look like one?). I don't understand why you interjected this caveat instead of just answering the question.

To OP -- the sneaker is probably less important than the insoles. Get some good insoles with arch support.

I am looking for something that I can wear with cute summer dresses, but comfortable enough for a LOT of walking. What would you recommend? Right now I just own flats circa 2018 and my running sneakers.
