This is the number one reason we moved to Catholic school. Our new principal is a early 30s woman and she was making noise about "utilizing more technology" and the parents shut that down hard.

That doesn’t necessarily mean anything. My students always plugged theirs in on the cart after use.

My first grade daughter uses the iPad a ton, based on her description. She’s at Campbell, if that matters. The teacher also shows video clips and uses the smart board, which I’m more ok with. Campbell apparently also just got a grant for MORE iPad time. They sent something home about a grant to use Lexia more.

I’ve gotten some truly miraculous performance out of my own perpetually undercharged iPad. Like over an hour of video replay on a device with less than 5% left. If my young ES was watching videos for an hour per day at school I’d be miffed.

Our school sends all iPads home in backpacks so that teachers don't have to be responsible for re-charging them every night.

I know exactly how much time my kid spends on it. And it's not much.

If you request they bring it home you could check the screen time. Some schools heavily use smart boards as well.

My 1st grader estimated 2-3 hours a day, but he's only 7 so not sure how accurate that is.
