I have social anxiety, so I never come across as overbearing or even particularly confident. But I'm always kind and pleasant. Thankfully, I haven't needed to interview much.

I have had to do it as a hiring manager. I enjoyed it, but I also realize that it's a waste of time and resources.

If you're hiring high level people, the idea that you should hire them based on some kind of vibes you get during the interview is ludicrous. Hire them based on actual, documented accomplishments and reputation.

If they are lower level, then perhaps some short of exam should be administered it there are concrete tasks or software competency being sought.

Just because someone can be charismatic for half an hour does not mean they can do the job. Unless the job is sales, I guess.

I love to interview. I take all the dislikes when I'm interviewed and make positives when I'm interviewing. People interview better when they're at ease. You'll get a better understanding of how they think.

Do you like it? Hate it? I have had to do this recently and I hate it with a passion.
