Student went to career center. That office asked for a resume. Student has literally nothing to put on a resume.

It is what it is. List whatever might be favorable, don't list what isn't real, and apply for entry-level roles where prior experience is not required.

That said, the absence of even summer employment or volunteer work will not reflect well on the job applicant, who may be seen as lazy and unambitious, absent extenuating circumstances or some other accomplishments during those time periods.

My graduating son was advised to put college clubs and activities on his resume. He played a club sport, had a leadership position at his fraternity, did some volunteer work and had an internship that was required for a class. He was told to omit his high school jobs altogether.

What are the employment options for a new graduate with nothing on their resume? Most recent W2 was in high school. Kid went to the career office and the first thing they wanted was a resume. Kid has nothing to put on a resume except name, address, phone, email and Duke economics degree.
