It's all posted online. The class is only a few weeks so they need to keep up or they will fail.

Whatever computer they decide to use, they have to be able to log into their MCPS email account. Usually the details come a week or so before the course starts, sometimes as late as a day or two before.

But there should be a way to log into email without a Chromebook, because my kid used their MacBook in past years. They ultimately switched, when they realized things were more streamlined on the Chromebook because teachers were designing everything around it anyway.

Generally that will be the case—it was when my DD took it—but it may depend on the teacher. Some may be more strict about deadlines.

But there could potentially be a *lot* of work piled up, if your kid is trying to do the work of two asynchronous blocks at once. They should be prepared to spend a fair amount of time on it when they get back.

Didn’t let out early, and you had time for assignments, but there were a lot of assignments. It’s not hard but very time consuming. If they don’t have the time for the work, they shouldn’t bother to take the class.

Has anyone taken summer health in person? Does the class let out early?

I don't remember. But if it's like the virtual health going on now, the assignments for the week (apart for the last week) are all due by Friday night. There are 7 mandatory virtual meetings.

It was like this last summer though I think everything for the week was due on Sunday. The volume of work was higher than anticipated

It is not good to get too far behind, because work piles up quickly,
but two summers ago as long as assignments were in by the last day of class, kids got credit.

It can be any computer, but she'll need to log into her MCPS account from that computer to access the content . My kids took this class over the summer and used their personal chromebooks.

If not using a chromebook, she will need to convert the homework files into PDF before submitting. Some teachers may only be using a chromebook to open HW assignments and the formatting might be off if the content was created on a PC or Mac.

Good plan to get it done over the summer! From my kids' experience, depending upon the teacher, the synchronous sessions can be quite short...45 min-1 hour. The content, they said, is a repeat of middle school health.

During COVID my kids used their regular laptops for Zoom school without an issue. And she can absolutely log in to her school email from any device. My kid is even able to access everything from his phone and I’ve logged on to his school account from my computer.
