You can always start at a daycare or similar that has a bus and then switch to SACC when spots open.

We were this family for morning care last year. We dropped two months in when we realized that half the time we were dropping our kids off 30 minutes before school started and could just take the bus.

Plan for back up but it's likely you won't need it.

If care is a necessity you need to plan for after care. If you can be somewhat flexible in your schedule, at 5 on the list, I would tile the dice and hope you got in. We didn't get the notice we were off the list till the week before 1st grade.

Call and ask them what the capacity is and what number you are in line. They're hesitant to tell you if you'll make it, but you can do the math. In our case, they have a capacity of 65, and we are #34 on the list. So no way are we getting in this year.

The lists move a lot, but they are also very long. Good luck.

Different schools have different amounts of turnover but at most schools, at #5, I think you'll get in.

We were on the list for 3 years. Then COVID happened. We left FCPS.

We are 5 and 6 right now. And new to the school, so we don't even know who to ask!

There will be movement over the summer bc some kids age up to middle school.

Depends on the school and where you are on the list, number of sibling entering next year as they get preference.

Highly school dependent. Have you asked your neighbors? At our school it typically takes a year or two to get off the list.
