Mine are doing it in 7th grade, I think HS is a bit late for this.

There is a difference between a Middle school and high school 5 paragraph paper. If both were graded to the same standards the high school one would get a better grade. Sure your child may learn to write a 5 paragraph essay in middle school but high school is were they will learn how to make it more detailed and put together.

Upper ES and MS definitely.

End of elementary/early middle.

I think they were taught this in middle school or earlier although I'm sure the earlier lessons went in one ear and out the other.

Third grade.

Perhaps... but 9th seems WAY too late to me. My kids are private and they cover this much earlier(4th or 5th) - that may be early but certainly everyone should be doing that NLT 7th but maybe not...

My kid did around 9 and 10. Definitely depends on the school and teacher.
