Be a pain. Keep reporting and complaining. Pretty sure they have to have a port a potty!

OP here. It’s really made me wonder about the integrity of inspectors. They come out, look and then write responses that there are no violations.

And, of course, it’s looking like this monstrosity is going to be one of those ugly white modern farmhouse style houses being bashed in another thread. The white siding has gone up. One piece came partially off and was just banging against the house in the wind till I got the workers to finally fix it after days.

Having lived through several teardowns on our street, I can say that the builder makes a difference. One inexperienced builder had a project like the one you are dealing with. But other projects completed by builders who were experienced were much smoother and finished quickly.
Keep calling and complaining, to the county and to the builder himself.

You will probably have more as more homes are tore down. We are surrounded by hulking monstrosities. When one house was done, construction started on another. It’s miserable.

😭OP here. That’s what I’m afraid of. The idiot who bought the house to flip said it would take three months initially, but I knew that was wildly optimistic. But four more months of this?! Sigh.

Ugh. They are required by law to have a silt fence so the construction debris and dirt doesn't run off the site.

Looking to commiserate with others who are dealing with the noise, mess and chaos of having the house next to you torn down and new construction.

The one next door to my Montgomery County cape (on a small street of capes and Colonials) is the first teardown on street. I fear it won't be the last, but right now this massive three-story house is towering over everything else. It's been going on for 5 1/2 months and it's not nearly done. I think this one may be worse than some, but it could be that I work from home and have to contend with it all day every day. They didn't put up fencing, there's no port-a-potty and some of the workers just pee anywhere they want in the yard, there's construction debris and broken glass strewn across the whole mudscape of the former yard and sometimes into my yard and overflowing from the dumpster that's been on the street this whole time. I regularly pick up screws and nails in the street. One neighbor even found a small saw blade in the street.

Someone has regularly filed complaints with the county that you can see online (but none of the neighbors I talked to say they wrote them), but when an inspector comes out he basically says everything is fine. I did file a noise complaint when they were coming as early as 5:15 am. So now they don't start till closer to 7 a.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. on weekends. I just want this to be over!
