OP - how old are you? A lot of these suggestions skew older. I am in my early 40’s and overweight/midsize. For a younger look, I look for a range from Target, Old Navy, Anthropologie, Abercrombie, Eloquii, NY&Co. Generally, I have the best luck buying individual pieces from different stores. A lot depends on which stores’ fits suit your body type. Good luck!

How tall are you, OP? I’ve been that size and I’m 5’11” so I needed a tall size usually, which was very limiting because even the places that carry tall sizes and plus sizes often don’t do them together.

J.Jill has forging cuts and stretchy fabrics - so not too loose. Lots of tunics. They have a huge sale section on line and will periodically run 60% off all sale.

My clothes are mostly Macy’s/Talbots Outlet (suits and dress pants) and Lands’ End or Amazon (their own Essentials or Basics line) for t’s and casual clothes. I’ve been wondering about brands like Bloomchic and Universal Standard but haven’t tried either.

Sorry, didn’t finish. I’ve found leggings, jackets and dress pants at Macys. Leggings at Costco and Amazon. Tshirts from Gap men’s section, but not appropriate for work. Having a hard time finding any nice tops. Going to Ross today. Tried sweaters from Amazon but had to return.

Lands end is good, and LL Bean has added some plus sizes. Lane Bryant is ok if you are selective in what you buy, which takes a lot of browsing.

I thought only 75 year old grandmas shop at Talbots and Ann Taylor.

If you register for the Talbots loyalty program you get mailers with fairly significant cash off coupons.

There are also Talbot's Outlet stores. The pricing there is better. It is all outlet line stuff/collections not past season sale items and returns. So just a different target customer.

Talbots frequently runs 30 percent off sales and on top flash sales for $50 off $200, plus frequent clearances. (Not sure of plus selection for latter.)

Point is if you choose carefully and mind the sales you can get fair prices at Talbots.

How overweight are we talking about?

Lands End continues to be great for a lot of basics and has a broad ranges of sizes. It's a little hit or miss -- if you live in MD, it's really easy to return to the store on Rockville Pike for the stuff that doesn't work. The list prices are a little high, but they run sales constantly -- I usually only order if they are offering 40% off.

I’m very overweight and finding a dwindling number of places to shop in person. Macy’s keeps shrinking the plus size section and sells a lot of hideously patterned mumu looking things.

I like plain-ish clothes that aren’t too baggy or too tight. Decent fabric and durability, but not expensive (so places like Talbots are out).
