You need at least a 3.7 for any in the SLAC T10....

At our non-DMV private, Williams and Amherst are 3.85+ (at least this year). Pomona and Swarthmore, possibly 3.8+ (no Pomona this year tho).

Midd/Wes/Bowdoin/Colby - ED if 3.7, and RD 3.8+

Middlebury, Hamilton, Bowdoin are about a 3.7-3.8 from our Big3 school. But the number of applicants is small so I'm not sure how strong the data is.

Amherst, Williams and Pomona--no.
At our Big3 those are 3.8+ (often 3.9) schools, even ED.

The rest--yes and no. Many schools ranked 5-30 will likely take a lesser GPA but not all of them down to a 3.5. A few. But many require a 3.7.

Also, more parents/kids that value a private school with some level of prestige, so yield rate will be higher.

Top 10 may be tough without high gpa and/or a hook. Slacs 11-30 are reasonable, but likely need to ED

Those colleges understand that those HSs cost $$$. Those colleges cost $$$, too. HS has already controlled for one of the important factors in admissions to the colleges.

I think you are correct that the SLACs give more "weight" to a Big 3 education than the bigger schools (UVA, Mich, USC, etc.) Schools like Wesleyan, Middlebury, Bowdoin, Bates....

Why did you list 3.5 to 3.8? That likely covers at least half of the students in a grade.
