Don't listen to the fat choir. I used to sing in it myself, but then I realized I didn't want to be a "victim" any more.

The more reasonable option is to eat real food in appropriate quantities so you don’t have to come up all kinds of elaborate eating rules. How about that?

Intermittent fasting is not exactly "elaborate rules". Give me a break.

Rule: "No twinkies after 2pm"
Fat person: "Stop oppressing me with your elaborate rules!!"

OMG, let's see whose disordered eating produces the biggest results. Truly awful.

Just because you lost weight short term doing something doesn't make it healthy or sustainable.

You can catch an eating disorder. Can be triggered by fasting.

I eat breakfast and lunch and sometimes a piece of fruit in the afternoon. But then I stop. I drink herbal tea in the evening and have lots of water with a slice of lemon or two. Over about 3 1/2 months I lost 10 pounds.

The easiest way for me to lose weight is following "OMAD" - one meal a day. I have never been a breakfast person, but skipping lunch and having one really delicious, filling meal for dinner is my preference. I find it easier to stay on track if I'm not snacking throughout the day and eating extra stuff.

A friend got bariatric surgery 1.5 yrs ago and her after surgery diet was sooo little. Like 2 bites of meat and 2 bites of veggies. Of course you lose drastic amounts of weight if you eat so little. You dont even need the surgery!

OP - can you reduce your portions consistently?

Also fill up on fiber and protein foods so you dont get hungry.

ok, this is a little dramatic. for many thousands (millions?) of people, intermittent fasting works with none of the consequences you described. Often, people feel better, and have better digestion, less bloating, and more mental clarity (speaking for myself here). YMMV.

Yes, but you will lose both fat and muscle.

You 100% will. You will run into people who say that "dieting doesn't work," and that "it's not that simple" but it definitely is. To put a finer point on it: When groups are uniformly starved they all lose weight. Maybe at slightly different rates, but they just do. Look at any photo of famine victims or war crime victims and it's not like there is some guy there whose body just wouldn't drop the weight.

If I just don't eat, I will lose weight right? That's where I'm at.
