^^ good question. I do pay for iCloud storage. I think that's safer than having it on the phone, right? Can't remember what I pay, though...

128 is fine but I’d do 256 depending on the price difference.

Getting my kid an iPhone. How much storage do they need these days? My iPhone 11 has just 64 gb and the options now are 128, 256, 512, all increasingly expensive. My kid isn't a gamer and has an iCloud account already so would be fine storing their photos and videos there. Doesn't currently do social media though will eventually, I'm sure. Would 128 do the trick, or is there something I'm missing?
