OP call the host and ask! It’s okay to ask. People do all kinds of things now. I routinely go to “no gifts” showers and send registry gifts in the mail for the actual wedding. Just call the host and ask.

No they absolutely will not. Order a gift and bring it to the shower. Don’t make the bride bring her own gift to the shower then open it.

Just curious if they do this at bridal showers on Long Island - create a "bouquet" for the bride from the ribbon that the presents are wrapped in?

I married into Italian Catholic NY family - wrap the gift and bring it to the shower. Trust me

I'm from Long Island. They open gifts at the shower. Order from the registry and have it sent to you so you can walk in with a gift - otherwise you'll feel funny (especially if you sent it and it accidentally got left behind).

Are you going to the shower or not? It reads like you want to send a gift in advance so you don't show up with one.

Long islander here. Unless otherwise instructed, you should arrive with a wrapped gift from the registry. They most likely will open the gifts as part of the shower.

I haven't been to a bridal shower in a long time - now my eldest niece is getting married. Also, I am from the southwest and they are born and bred Long Island (also Catholic and Italian).

Shower invite says to bring something personal to pass on the the bride - like a recipe, etc. Ok, I can do that.

Here's my dumb question - I assume I should order a gift from her registry and have it mailed to her for the actual gift? Like, they don't want me to show up with a gift, right?

Every once in awhile I don't understand the Northeast/Long Island traditions and end up feeling stupid.
