For Medicaid, the person receiving care needs to demonstrate they have no financial resources. Who is paying for assisted living?

No, I do not mean Medicare. Well versed in Medicaid LTC.

Family is paying for assisted living along with aunt but tapped out.

NY Medicaid has an "Assisted Living Program" and While the majority of program participants are Medicaid eligible, this program is also open to persons who are not eligible for Medicaid.

I'm interested if anyone has had experience with this offering.

Call the program and ask. MD has a program that claimed to pay for in home care givers if you removed your loved one from a nursing home but it turned out to be a few hours a week and they couldn't guarantee hours due to limited staff. It really varies by state and program. Medicaid is block granted to the state and how the states use the money is up to them.

You may want to apply for nursing home medicaid instead.

Pro tip - in NJ, medicaid will pay for assisted living for those who qualify - all providers must reserve 10% of their beds for medicaid.

It depends on the state. In Maryland, no.

Medicaid doesn’t pay for anything unless you’re already impoverished.

Aware of Medicaid covering home health care aides when someone is in their home, but what about if someone is in assisted living? We are not looking for Medicaid to cover the room/board - LTC - costs, but exploring if they will cover an aide for some hours for someone in assisted living. We are helping our aunt with her assisted living costs, but she could use more assistance at night. We are all pretty tapped out covering her monthly expenses, but this ALP is a great setting for her. She is bright, cheery, cognitively with it, and would benefit with someone being with her for part of the evening.

Is this possible?
