Would it be helpful at all to have the child show up to tryouts, introduce themselves to the coach, explain the situation, express their desire to be part of the team, and do what they can?

We sometimes have mid seasons adjustments at our club because our view is you committed to the club and not necessarily a team and if you do not live up to the commitment of a top team then we can select someone else who might. Sorry but it is tough out there.
