We wore ours at college dances.

But there's definitely a used dress market. Though if you donate a nice dress to a charity or a thrift store that will resell it at a low cost, you'll make another kid very happy!

Donate or sell on Facebook Marketplace.

There are often girls who have a last-minute invite scrambling for a dress and turn to Marketplace.

My mom still has mine and refuses to donate them. So whatever you do, don't end up like that! I vote for donate.

Our HS has an event when you can donate dresses and students can then shop from the donations. DD kept hers because her college has a couple formal events and she thought she might wear it for that. I don't think she has so far but did re-wear her senior year homecoming dress.

My kid isn't there yet, but she has lots of recital dresses that we've donated over the years. Due to growth spurts, some were only worn once. I always try to buy with several uses in mind, so maybe what will eventually become a prom dress will also be used for a music competition or whatnot.
