Best option is to get a handyman (or your contractor) with a ladder and remove the nest and mount a cage-like cover over the vent or a vent cap that is louvered or has integrated screening. They will return otherwise. Google to see options.

They are. The mother is feeding them all day long and scratching up the new siding in the process. Damned nature.

Mites!? Ugh. How much of a risk is that? The eggs seem to have already hatched. Is this the fault of the people who installed the vent? I literally just had this done a few weeks ago and paid $$$ to get the best siding.

But don't wait for the eggs to hatch. Get the next out of there and put the screen on the outside. You don't want mites from the birds in your house; if they block the fan, it could be a fire hazard.

This. Don’t try to do something stupid that might result in a fire or dead birds that will smell up your house.

First you should wait until the eggs have hatched. Get a handyman to go up there and take it out and then form some type of barrier around the vent hood, nothing that would obviously block the ventilation. We also had to place chicken wire in the vent opening because they did and will always return to that location.

Get some gloves on and pull the next down. Do it before they lay eggs.

We recently had our bathroom vent replaced (for aesthetic reasons) and now birds have built a nest in it. They're not inside the house, the nest is under the little vent hood on the outside facing section. This is at the top of our gable so not easily accessible. Is there a way to smoke them out by burning some kind of scent in the bathroom and turning on the fan? Any other way to deal with this?
