What is a safe distance from a major airport? If I buy a house 2.5 mi from Dulles, I am worried I'll be exposing my family to VOC's. If I buy a house further out, say in Lansdowne, I will be 45 min from my job and kids schools. Anyone know the dangers/ risks?
How come all the people who work at the airport- ground crew, mechanics, gate agents, baggage handlers, food service, aircrews, pilots… everyone - how come they’re not dying by the millions every year? They’re a lot closer to jet exhaust than anyone living near an airport.

Jets overfly 90+% of the country. You will never be further than 10 miles from an aircraft.
I'm not sure if you're being intentionally dense?
