It’s literally all over YouTube already! There are sooooooo many songs on YT write now done entirely with AI that you can’t even tell are non-human. They’ll just turn that same tech and create fake sound bites of politicians saying made up things to get them into trouble.


Even on YT while listening to music I am constantly bombarded by Oprah Winfrey now trying to sell me penis enhancing treatments. Of course it is fake and made with AI, but it does literally sound like her. What happens when this is weaponized on democracy?

I hate to at it, but it's looking more and more like we need a great firewall like China to police the Internet like they do. No one can stop deep fakes now using AI. We have people that can create AI porn of virtually any person they have an image of. Not just photos, but videos too. People are creating deep fakes with incindiary content to get people fired, cause discord, and for other nefarious purposes. For example, this teacher created a deep fake of his boss to make a fake video of his boss spewing antisemitism and racist remarks. Parents couldn't tell the video was fake and were bombarding the school with complaints:

But the worst part of this all is the impact this will have on free elections and democracy. No one can stop state actors from trying to influence elections in other countries by flooding the Internet with reams of fake videos of politicians that could impact their election chances. Imagine fake video clips or sound bytes flooding the Internet of your favorite candidate supposedly behind close doors saying all sorts of racist stuff? The public will not be able to discern fact from fiction, and it will completely upend free elections in the west.

The threat of AI and deep fakes is so severe to democracy and free elections that it is inevitable the govt will need vastly more control over it. I dunno what else they can do, but the Internet as we know it is going to be in complete chaos due to fake AI content melting peoples' minds before elections.
