Some cosmetic, some because they were looking weird/might go south. He has an office in McLean as well. I truly don’t recall the fee, that’s not my decision point when it comes to my face.

I’ve had a strange brown spot on my face for years. I would go to derm and be told that I had other pre-cancerous moles that then had to be excised and biopsied. But they would always tell me to go to plastic derm specialist for the face spot.

Moved and went to new derm. She took one look at face spot and air-quoted “pre-cancerous” and just froze it off with the liquid nitrogen, thereby getting it covered by insurance. And it healed beautifully with no scarring or whiteness as I had with the excised spots elsewhere.

Just pointing out that a second opinion might get you what you need without too much problem.

Make sure you don’t go overboard and do a big excision if it isn’t that suspicious. They can scrape and test it first before removal, so that anything suspicious but turning out OK can just be frozen off.

My teen had a cyst removed from his face by Dr. Oh at Children’s who is a pediatric plastic surgeon. I highly recommend him.

A biopsy will determine how much needs to be taken. Typically it will be a simple excision, followed by biopsy, then MOHS if any cancer is found. How likely is a teen to have skin cancer so young?

This would be a for a teen if determined it's suspicious. Assume a plastic surgeon? Any recs?
