I think it’s indicative of neither spouse being mentally healthy enough to handle marriage. Which is likely how you ended up here.

Just divorce. Fix yourself. Be a good parent to your kids.

Wasn’t framed as revenge but probably was a retaliatory EA.

Cheating for revenge is silly, you should not cheat to “get back” at your wife. That said, i think it’s perfectly reasonable to give yourself a hall pass, she’s not entitled to hold you to monogamy once she has strayed herself. If I were in this situation, I’d be explicit about that as a condition of reconciliation, better to be honest.

Some people just lack a sense of morals and boundaries. It can be difficult to see when you are just dating but marriage will bring it out…

This happened with my siblings marriage. Spouse had an affair (sexual), my sibling then had an emotional affair. It for whatever reason did help them work through it and they are still together.

Your integrity should not depend on someone else, my dh has had 2 affairs but I’m better then that, you should be also.

Get a divorce/ you are not divorcing the kids. This marriage is going to end in divorce anyway and it’s harder when kids are high school or college age than it is right now.
You will get 50-50 custody if you want it.

Or stay or know that by this very post, your marriage is going to end up a divorce anyway and stay knowing OK you’ll blow up your kids lives later and blindside them and then you’ll be much older if you ever wanted to find somebody else.

I’m thinking about having a fling to get back at my wife for her affair…divorce is not viable given my attachment to the kids.

If anyone has had a clandestine fling to even the score, how did it work out?
