I cared when the kids were younger and it was new families we'd met through preschool or whatever.

Now I don't care at all.

Our house is always basically clean. It's just not tidy very often.

We keep our house relatively clean at all times. We have a weekly housekeeper. I make sure restrooms are clean and wipe down the kitchen. Kids tidy up their rooms and playroom before and after play date.

It is low stress.

I just straight up, then take my time cleaning afterwards - why clean twice

Are you always so literal?

No, but I am not seeing the connection between the two things. What is the problem with tidying up before company?

I don’t even try any more.

I'm not that smart, I think I'll get everything surface level ready in an hour or so but it ended up taking me close to 3 or 4! I was also about to pass out.

Never come close to passing out but I never finish everything. Since we don’t have a cleaning service and both have demanding jobs, it gets to be a lot.

Has anyone almost passed out? I kept seeing thing after thing to clean until 5 seconds before the guest arrived. I was practically hyperventilating.
