Darling Girls by Sally Hepworth
James by Percival Everett
This list looks great! I actually picked up another novel by Paul Murray (An evening of long goodbyes) and initially liked it but it didn't quite work for me and I DNF. But, looking at reviews online many people said Skippy Dies was better so I may try to grab that one. --OP

Yet another thread where I will recc the Sarah Caudwell books (starting with Thus was Adonis Murdered).
Laurie King is also good (she has a Sherlock Holmes adjacent series and a modern detective). Or Elizabeth George. Or Daughter of Time if you never read it.
The Thursday Murder Club series is decent.

I do like well written chick lit! I will check out Sophie Cousens...and to the other PP, I never got to The Alice Network from the original list but definitely should with a second recommendation. Noting that one down now. The KJ Charles book also looks great. You guys are lifesavers!! --OP

If you read The Alice Network, recommended on your other post, and liked it, try The Rose Code. I think those are her two best ones and I actually preferred The Rose Code slightly but they're both really good.

You said in your other post that you like well written chick lit - have you read anything by Sophie Cousens? I read The Good Part first (based on a recommendation from here), and that one was probably my favorite, but I also enjoyed This Time Next Year, Just Haven't Met You Yet, and Before I Do. She has a new one for 2024 that I will read at some point.

I read a lot of the suggested books! But I feel like the well has run dry...ever since I finished every Tana French novel a few months ago, I haven't been able to find anything to read.
