Testosterone doping is banned. Whether or not it would apply to a trans male playing girls sports is an open question. It is against the spirit of doping rules

Our high school requires the child regardless of gender at birth to decide which gender they will play for and that cannot change at any point during the year. e.g. Cannot play girls softball and boys basketball.

These are valid questions that I don't know the answer to. Things are very fluid right now and I'm not sure they know what they want with regards to the team. At this point I'm information gathering.

They might want to give it up anyway as part of their male identity

Which school system is your child in? I think that might matter. Also, do they want to continue playing on the girl’s team? Their feelings on this might also change in the future. A lot of trans masc people just look like dudes once they get a beard and have a deep voice.

According to the Howard County Schools website.
"High school interscholastic athletics are managed by the Maryland Public Secondary School Athletic Association (MPSSAA) as part of the Maryland State Board of Education. The MPSSAA has determined that:

Transgender students can participate on the interscholastic athletics team of the student’s birth gender.
Transgender students can participate on interscholastic athletics teams of the gender that the student has transitioned to. This may be supported by medical documentation (hormonal therapy, sexual reassignment surgery, counseling, etc.) confirming transition of gender.
Transgender students may compete on the interscholastic team of the gender the student identifies with, as recognized by the local school system and established in official school system records. This may differ from the student’s gender listed in school system records."
If I'm reading this correctly, they could play for either team but I'm not sure what the policy is with regards to testosterone.

MCPS's policy allows for participation on:

the student’s sex assigned at birth
or the gender to which the student has transitioned; or
the student’s asserted gender identity

If you are far enough along to be starting T, the child is probably fully socially transitioned, right?

Sorry if this has been covered before but a quick search didn't bring up an answer.
We are discussing my teenager starting testosterone over the summer. They play a high school sport on the girls team in Maryland that they really enjoy and I'm trying to find out if going on testosterone will disqualify them from the girls team. Is there a tipping point in dosing? We are just beginning the conversation and this is something that they brought up to me as something they might have to give up.
