That's not passive. Just accept and send your DC to the center school. Don't get fussed about the details.

FCPS is a good school system and AAP is a good program. The complaints are just about minutiae. Don't get confused by it.

We learned from the AAP orientation (well - the virtual one because it was 2020).

Our AART said that the only area where the standards are outside of the 3rd grade standards is math and we should expect to cover 3rd grade math and some of 4th grade math. The rest of the subjects they expand on the depth and complexity of the 3rd grade standards.

Sort of? You can find the advanced standards, which is about all the forcing FCPS and VDOE really do. After that it varies school-by-school. Someone claiming to be a teacher on the main FCPS board was saying Caesar's English was killed in 2019. Meanwhile our center is still very much using it. So that's the kind of consistency you get in FCPS. My 6th and 4th grader have done M3 projects some years and not others and don't particularly care for them, honestly.

I will say that the advanced math standards as posted on the FCPS website have all been taught, and decently well. Props to their teachers for that.

Your best bet is to go to the orientation night and see what your school says they do for curriculum.

There are some guidelines, such as Caesar's English and M3, but it really depends on the school and the teacher. With the new LA curriculum rolling out this fall, it may be very different.

Is the curriculum for AAP IV (grade 3 onward) posted anywhere on FCPS website? I am trying to get an idea with examples if any. Grade 3 Math may have multiplication, divisions but is it like 12x8 type of multiplication or 234x5 type of multiplication? In other words, if there is a curriculum listed in detail, that would be helpful. The website says "curriculum that is differentiated through acceleration, depth, and complexity of content" and I am trying to understand what it may include on not just Math but in other areas too.
